Research

Although research has historically been done within the protected area of the reserve, focused exclusively on what is held within it, in the past few years a new approach .has emerged in which the research team from the core area has seen the necessity to establish actions in different areas of the Biosphere Reserve.

The actions implemented have been direct or as support to external researchers who are attracted, among other things, by the facilities available in the Reserve’s headquarters, given the infrastructure existing exclusively for research, and by the availability of information, both biological and social, that the MBF has been compiling for many years.

It is for these kinds of advantages, among others, that a notable increase in research has been possible and achieved in sectors related to subjects like: health, transmitted diseases, and other relevant aspects to the communities of the Biosphere Reserve, which see as positive the fact that this type of research is being developed and consider it an added value of the core area, giving them a sense of belonging to the MFNR.
