“Enforcing management Capabilities of Communities located into the MFNR”; is named of a project developed between ARC (Canada) and MBF

This project is being developed in Canindeyu Department (Paraguay), as a part of the Program Mbaracayu, handled by the Moisés Bertoni Foundation (MBF) and Alberta Research Council (ARC), in alliance with the Canadian Agency of International Development (ACDI).

 

The project’s objective is to design and implement a dynamic planning process for the use of the land, with the intention to give information to recipients about the benefits of this action in relation to facilities to promote ecological integrity, building biological communities (including social and cultural aspects) and the regulation of a responsible economy for the Biosphere Reserve.

The project was initiated in 2004 and will end in 2007.
As an achievement of this project, a Committee of Management for the Mbaracayu Forest Biosphere Reserve was created in 2006. This group has monthly reunions and more than 25 representatives of different local and national groups are involved in the development of the area participate: small and big owners of land and producers, natives, women communities, groups of young people, educators, communicators, health promoters, municipal authorities, National Environmental Secretary (SEAM) members, public government representatives, and members of MBF and ARC.
