The objective of this component within the Tapyta program is to explore and develop alternative options of subsistence, through the implementation of at least 3 productive projects with organized groups (committees or associations of producers).
The productive crops were selected with the participation of community members in workshops organized by the MBF. The selection and prioritization of projects will be done in accordance with a series of established criteria, giving emphasis to organic production and market availability. The Foundation is looking to replicate successful experiences already completed in the zone of the Biosphere Reserve of the Mbaracayu Forest and on Yacyreta Island. To date, the first year of work has been completed successfully, benefiting 120 families from the communities of Enramadita, Ciervo Cua, Corazón de María, Toro Blanco, 1º de Mayo, and Ñumi.
Some of the reached results are:
- A survey of data at property level and a registry of all the users of the technical assistance service.
- Besides the income crops, gardens have been installed in homes for family consumption in all the communities and in 95 % of the families assisted.
- Training in sanitation and improvement of animal production of cows, horses, pigs, birds, and goats is offered to the communities.
- Periodically training conferences are offered on production of self-supply and earned income crops.
