The MBF works with an innovating approach towards achieving sustainable development, through the conservation of nature with the active participation of the citizens.
The MBF was created in 1988. It counts with an Administration Board constituted by 12 members annually elected by the General Assembly integrated by the partners. The partners of the Foundation are civil society representative people, with the single condition for assuming a real commitment with sustainable development, transparency and honor.
The Administration Board establishes the general policies, the strategic lines and the social and economic goals of the institutional programs. One of its main tasks is to look after the activities of the MBF, so that they follow the priorities and the defined regular processes in an effective way and in coordination with other private, public, national and international institutions.

All the programs of the Foundation orient their management in the search, identification and development of strategiess
as well as programmatic and instrumental actions that allow recognizing and designing different legal, economic, technological, administrative instruments and investments.
Alliances with private and public organizations are developed promoting the social responsibility of all the involved sectors, by means of the awareness of the impact that human activities and the consumption of natural resources have on the atmosphere, thus to protect the atmosphere and to promote the development.
With a staff conformed by 60 professionals, administrative and technicians, the matrix structure on which it evolves, allows the Institution to unite diverse abilities and disciplines, as a fundamental requirement to reach an efficient management of human resources and infrastructure, as well as the achievement of the financial self-sufficiency.
